Cooking Classes
Foodintuition cooking classes are designed to develop the basic knowledge, understanding and skills needed to cook delicious, natural and wholesome food. They focus on flexible meals for vegetarians, meat-eaters and everyone in between, from beginner to experienced chef.
I use a wide range of ingredients from all food groups:
- Good-quality, traditional fats
- Natural sweeteners
- Fruit and vegetables
- Wholegrains
- Beans, Peas and Lentils (including soy products)
- Nuts and seeds, Sea vegetables and more.
Some classes do include the use of meat, dairy and eggs. Local, sustainable, organic and seasonal ingredients are used when and wherever possible.
The aims:
- To develop your understanding of what natural food is: how it works in your body and why it is good for you
- To give you practical information on the wide variety of natural ingredients available
- To show you how to make tasty, flexible and innovative recipes that are fast, affordable and easy to prepare
- To impart simple techniques and strategies that will enable you to incorporate more natural foods into your cooking and everyday life
- To help those on a restricted diet (vegetarian, gluten or dairy free etc) to cook and eat well
- To extend your knowledge and understanding in specific areas of interest (cooking for young children, jam making etc)
- To make you aware of the benefits of sustainable and humane farming and fishing as well as home and local cooking
- To encourage you to make food choices that highlight locally grown, seasonally fresh and less processed natural ingredients
- To give you the confidence to make healthy changes to the ways you shop, cook and eat.
Classes include recipes, support material and plenty of samples to try. Students will observe while I prepare recipes and lecture at the same time.
Classes can take from one to eight students.
